Consider the complexities of applying to college – grappling with finances, negotiating the SATs, preparing for interviews. For youth who are first in their families to attend college, support systems that ease the way and promise success just aren't there. So FGCB provides the crucial support and guidance that low- and middle-income students need to get into college and succeed. Homework Clubs operated from subsidized housing sites provide learning interventions and academic support to students at all grade levels. The College Success program helps students climb the academic ladder, supporting 180 middle and high schoolers and 1,000 college students as they navigate academic requirements and admissions, apply for financial aid, enroll and stay in school, and graduate on time. An extraordinary 85% of FGCB alums hold bachelor's degrees and, of these, more than 20% earn advanced degrees. Help the numbers grow.

COVID-19 Update: While some programs, like homework club enrichment activities and honor roll recognition parties are off the table for the moment, weekly virtual homework club sessions still take place throughout the school year for Kimberly Gardens students. With the help of guidance counselors, GMGF and College Success completed recruitment, performing all one-on-one and group meetings, monthly workshops and weekly communications with parents and students by zoom, phone, and email. Virtual enrichment activities for students, including college tours, guest speakers, Career Puppy workshops, and MLW virtual activities remain on the roster.
