ArtStream provides creative and performance opportunities to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism. Volunteers can support students directly in classes, onstage, or backstage.
Volunteer opportunities include:
Mentoring in drama and social skills classes
Role modeling
Doing improv scenes with a student
Leading participants through a song, dance, or activity
Backstage production assistants
Special events and office help
One-time and ongoing assignments
Opportunities available in Virginia, D.C., and Maryland
Opportunities are available in various locations and at various times throughout the year.
Training is provided prior to starting - Types of Volunteers Needed: individual/adult; individual/college; individual/high school; adult groups of less than 5
- Hours Needed: business hours during the week; evenings during the week; daytime on the weekend

Volunteers Needed for the Start of ArtStream's Season
ArtStream is looking for enthusiastic adults to support our actors as volunteer mentors, a role that includes weekly rehearsals and a final performance in which they'd be supporting an actor with an intellectual and developmental disability on stage. We are currently seeking: 2-3 volunteers for our Silver Spring Theatre Company A Rehearsal Location: Round House Education Center Day of Week & Time: Tuesdays from 7:00pm-9:00pm Time Frame: November 18, 2025-May 19, 2026 No Rehearsal On: November 25th, December 23rd, December 30th Tech Dates: May 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th at Silver Spring Black Box Theatre Performances: May 30th & 31st in the afternoon at Silver Spring Black Box Theatre If interested, please email Rebecca Kiser (r.kiser@art-stream.org) and Hayley Cutler (h.cutler@art-stream.org).
