  • Volunteer Opportunities / Responsibilities: Britepaths depends greatly on volunteers to help administer our programs and engage the community. Having the support of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers is crucial to our ability to help working families in our community. Our ongoing volunteer needs include:
    - Financial education coaches, mentors and instructors to work with our Financial Empowerment clients (bilingual English-Spanish especially needed)
    - DMV-area professionals who can work with our Workforce Development clients to review resumes, offer interview coaching and serve as short-term networking mentors
    - Supporting organizations to fund grocery store gift card deliveries to our Food Bridge families
    - Groups to assemble weekend food packs for students at our Fairfax County Public Schools partner schools
    - Groups to run food/fund/gift card drives to assist families who visit our Emergency Pantry

SNAP Volunteers for the Wakefield Farmers Market

Britepaths partners with Fairfax County Farmers Markets, Virginia Fresh Match and FRESHFARM to assist qualified community members maximize their SNAP/EBT benefits by providing a match of up to $40 throughout the Farmers Market season. Britepaths is in great need of Volunteers to represent us at the Wakefield Farmers Market in Annandale during the 2024 market season. This is part-time position requires 5 hours of work every other week. Volunteers must be 18 or older and have reliable transportation to the Market. Interested applicants should be willing to commit to a regular schedule of 6 months. Volunteers are welcome to volunteer more often if they choose, and openings are available. The Wakefield Farmers Market at Audrey Moore Recreation Center (8100 Braddock Rd., Annandale, VA) operates on Wednesday afternoons May 1-October 30, 2024. Volunteers will assist from 1:15 pm to 6:30 pm.   • Volunteer Info: Understand Farmers Market token exchange process, guidelines, and requirements for implementing the SNAP matching program and accurately communicate information about those programs to volunteers, market vendors, and diverse customers. Training and guidance will be provided. Operate the SNAP EBT terminal and dispense SNAP and match tokens according to established procedures. Manage paperwork, report on time, and maintain inventory of necessary supplies. Assist in setting up the information booth tent, table, and signs. All items will be stored on-site at the designated location. Provide general customer services, such as answering questions about the SNAP program and helping customers search for specific vendors or products. Must adhere to the Fairfax County Farmers Market Guidelines on the Market premises. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
