In Montgomery County, an estimated 60,000 people struggle to get enough to eat. Yet more than 50 million pounds of food are wasted in the county each year. Nourish Now seizes the opportunity, rescuing unused, fresh food from over 160 licensed food providers (restaurants, caterers, distributors) and donating it to more than 70 food assistance organizations. Every month, over 700 families receive prepared meals, fresh produce, bread, and dairy products, along with canned goods from local food drives. Clients can also sit down with a Food Security Advisor, who makes sure they have enough to eat for the whole month. The benefits are manifold: nonprofit partners save money (foods are provided free of charge); clients receive healthy, fresh goods; and instead of packing our landfills, this food nourishes our neighbors. It’s a winning partnership all around.

COVID-19 Update: Nourish Now has been donating perishable and non-perishable food directly from our location to 200 families and to nonprofit partner organizations, as well as healthy snacks to 2,000 students from 15 Montgomery County public schools. Distribution sites are also located at 20 local schools, religious institutions, and local apartment complexes. Each donates food to 100-300 individuals and families, a majority of whom pick up the multi-cultural Family Relief Boxes ¬– household staples, prepared meals, milk, produce and more. In just six months Nourish Now has donated over 4.5 million pounds of food equivalent to over 3,750,000 meals.
